At the head of the development program of the IFuture project, strongly desired by Fincantieri and financed with the European Regional Development Fund Puglia POR Puglia 2014-2020, we have inaugurated our new “Innovation and Development Center (CIS)”. A historic day in Isotta Fraschini Motori, which took place in the presence of the President of the Puglia Region, Michele Emiliano, welcomed by the Chief Executive Officer of Fincantieri, Pierroberto Folgiero and by the President and Chief Executive Officer of IFM, Sergio Razeto and Marco Acca.
Pierroberto Folgiero, Chief Executive Officer of Fincantieri, declared: “This is a fundamental step for our Isotta Fraschini Morori, fully involved in the path of technological innovation outlined by the new industrial plan, which relaunches the synergy between the company and the military and merchant devisions of the Group. In fact, the new CIS is an important piece of a strategy strongly promoted by Fincantieri which will lead to the definition of increasingly efficient and sustainable products, those of the future”.
C.I.S., into which both internal resources and 32 young new hires have converged, will be primarily involved in the development of “IFuture”, a complex engineering and industrialization plan which envisages:
All the project are supported by the Puglia Region funds and from the strong focus on hydrogen, also thanks to the funds disbursed by the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy and the European fund IPCEI (Important Project of Common European Interest) Hy2Tech, “IFuture Hydrogen” was born, a program that will lead to the creation of two distinct marine products powered by this fuel: a family of internal combustion engines and a modular fuel cell platform. Both will be dedicated to a power range between 500 and 4,000 kW and will reduce CO2 emissions to values to net-zero carbon emission target.
